It’s been a while since I’ve been updating our sites, I apologize, but wed’re getting back on track. We have a new drummer, Norm Brulotte. He’s been a great addition. We wish our former drummer Thom and his wife Alison the best as they head into the world of parenthood. We’ll miss him.

We’ll be at Angelico’s soon, next Friday, and we also will be booking more shows, now that we know we’ve got a drummer. So keep looking back for updates, we’re psyched to get out and start playing again.

Fred and Sandy, that was an awesome bash, even with having to haul our equipment out via  the “Ferry” to Fox Island!!  We were pretty beat on Sunday, as I’m sure many people were, if anyone has any pics, post em’ up on the site here!!!

We’ll be at the Haddam Neck Fair Saturday from 2:00 to 5:00, come on out, is is a great fair!!!! We’re right next to the racing pigs and schedule our sets around them, so what else could you ask for, Blues on the Side and Racing Pigs!!! Thanks to Mike from Ace Audio, Mark Dumond  from the Fair, and Paul from the Dramatix for working out the sound!!! Mike from Ace does an awesome job, he did sound for the Simsbury Septemberfest and we thought it sounded AWESOME!!!!!!

Hey All,

Come to the Colchester Green this Sunday. We start playing @ 5:30. We play until 7:30. Right now the Weather looks good. Bring a picnic, bring some lawn chairs, bring some friends. It should be a lot of fun!!! Hopefully, well see you there.

Our Current website is a nightmare to manage, so I’m hoping to migrate the whole site to this blog site to make it easier to manage, so bear with me.

The Music of Blues On the Side
Vocal styling and lyrics are central to the music we present. At our shows you will hear a wide variety of fun, energetic, and expressive songs; you won’t hear any 25 minute instrumental jams.
We choose songs that we like to sing and play. The common thread that runs through it all is blues, that classic American idiom that has influenced so many branches of popular music over the decades. A soulful and expressive vocal performance against a backdrop of those basic chord progressions, scales,
Our play list falls most comfortably into the category of contemporary blues. For inspiration we look first to modern blues artists, primarily female performers. But it doesn’t stop there. Something we share with these contemporary artists is a deep respect for the roots: the music of those original blues artists that collectively created a genre decades ago. Because of that, some of the songs on our list reach back to that age.
Another thread that you’ll see is an element of country blues/country rock. We have found some great fun songs from female artists of the current country music scene.
Throw in a few more songs that don’t fit neatly into any of the above categories, but somehow fit our style, and there you have it!We all have “day jobs.” We play blues on the side. We do it because we love music and have a great time playing it. Come on out to our shows and be part of the fun. and rhythms: these things together make up the common denominator for our songs.Blues On the Side has been together for for about four years. Blues on the Side features vocalist and Colchester resident Diane Ozmun. She is backed by fellow Colchesterites, guitarist Andy Leyland, keyboardist Clayton Brown, and her husband Chris on sax, harmonica, and guitar. Drummer Thom Bech, a Colchester Intermediate School teacher and bass player Paul Fletcher make up the rhythm section.
